Spreads

The three-card spread is a rudimentary past - present - future reading. Shuffle the deck or have the querent shuffle. Lay three cards out as the numbers in the above diagram/graphic illustrate. The FIRST card is representative of the GENERAL INFLUENCES surrounding the querent's PAST, or the past of the situation being queried. The SECOND card is the CURRENT INFLUENCE. The THIRD card represents the INFLUENCES surrounding the FUTURE of this situation or question. The Celtic Cross is probably the most familiar spread. It can be a very specific, accurate reading as your skill in cartomancy increases. Shuffle the cards or have the querent shuffle. Lay the cards out in the paggern indicated by the graphic, in the illustrated numerical order. Interpret the meanings of the cards within the subjects below: Card 1: This is what COVERS the question, or what the INFLUENCES are surrounding the querent. Card 2: This is what CROSSES the question, or what things are OPPOSING the querent in the matter. Card 3: This is BELOW him, or something in the past which has become the BASIS of the situation. Card 4: This is BEHIND him, or something that is just PASSING from his "sphere of influence". Card 5: This is BEFORE him, or something that will be SOON PASSING IN to his sphere of influence. Card 6: This is what CROWNS him, or what MAY HAPPEN in the future to become the basis for situations after this one. Cards 7, 8, 9, and 10: This author chooses to read these as a 'sentence' of sorts. Much like a three card reading, it is read as a continuous timeline of events or influences with card 10 being the FINAL OUTCOME. ~ALTERNATELY~ Card 7: This is what the querent FEARS. Card 8: This is what the querent's FAMILY feels about the situation. Card 9: This is the querent's HOPES. Card 10: This is the FINAL OUTCOME. Either variation of reading is accurate. It is a matter of personal preference and familiarity with the meanings of the cards as to which you personally decide to use.
